09/09/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/09/15 10:33 Greyson and Mason were originally found as strays when they were kittens. They were being pet-sat by their owner’s friend for 2.5 weeks. Their owner just told her that she isn’t returning for her cats. Greyson and Mason’s caretaker told us that these brothers are shy with new people at first but warm up quickly. She describes them as friendly, affectionate, and playful. They’re friendly and relaxed with people, each other, and the small dogs and other cats in the home (all males). They like to play together. Greyson and Mason always use the litterbox. Greyson and Mason walked into their kennels. They were tense with wide eyes but allowed us to scan(-) and pet them. Mason tried to squeeze out the front of the kennel. We returned and he was retreated in the back. He remained tense and his ears tilted down/back, but he tolerated us petting him, collaring him, and taking his photograph without resisting or vocalizing.

09/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per Mason’s caretaker, he is shy with new people at first, but will warm up quickly. He was described as friendly, affectionate, and playful. He is friendly and relaxed around his brother, small dogs, and other cats in the home. He was tense upon intake, but allowed handling without any issues. Reaction to assessor: Mason does not come to the front, but remains neutral inside her cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mason blinks his eyes slowly. Reaction to cage door opening: Mason becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Mason was very hesitant of touch. He sniffs the assessor’s hand, but slowly shifts away. He allows petting, but his ears bend flat and he focuses on the assessor. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Mason tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
