MARA – A1050933
Safe 9-24-2015 Brooklyn Rescue: Only Maine Coon Rescue Please honor your pledges: http://www.omcrescue.org/
***SAFE 09/24/15*** MARA is a beautiful cat and is just a 1 year old kitten. She was brought in as a STRAY and was not very happy about it but did not attempt to flee. But she is fearful in the shu setting and may be intimidated by small children so her rating is EXPNOCHILD. This doesn’t mean that in the future she will always be like this. But as she is in a crowded shelter,in a small cage,of course MARA has reasonable cause for her behavior! PLEASE, FOSTER or ADOPT this sweet girl. You never know that she could just end up as your best friend!

09/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mara was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was shy upon intake, but was receptive to introduction and allowed all handling. She became more fractious during her initial medical exam and will attempt to flee. Reaction to Assessor: Mara was low on the ground and hides behind her litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mara’s eyes dilate and she avoids eye contact. Reaction to cage door opening: Mara becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Mara starts to growl and focuses on the assessor’s hand. She allows gentle petting, but whines at first and continues to growl. No further reaction was displayed. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Mara tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
