Her shelter notes show a lovely companion who gets along in perfect harmony with adults, and she will probably continue to do so once she gets out of the shelter. 07/25/15 13:10 Mana is a 1 year and 6 month old gray tabby female domestic shorthair cat who is being surrendered due to allergies. Mana has been with the family since she was a kitten. Mana lived with adults, 1 other cat who was 9 months old. Mana was playful and receptive to the other cat in the house. Mana is an indoor cat who has not been exposed to dogs or small children. Owner states she is very affectionate with family members and will seek contact but prefers that on her own terms. Mana will flee from people she does not know until she is ready to meet them. Owners report she is not defensive. Mana will struggle for a bath but tolerates a nail trim. Mana enjoys being brushed and is tolerant of being picked up but will struggle when she has had enough. Mana likes to play swat and chase with little balls or crumpled paper. She has a scratching post made of rope but is indifferent to it. Mana prefers to scratch the couch. When the family is home she likes to find her own place to be but will also seek contact depending on her mood. Mana enjoys both wet and dry food. Upon intake Mana was slow and cautious to introduction but receptive. Mana alert and loose for handling and counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) collar and photograph. Mana was responsive to re-assurance and easily replaced to the carrier.

Reaction to Assessor: Mana was calm and relaxed upon approach. She meows and looks at the assessor when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Mana becomes alert, but remains calm. Reaction to touch: Mana was a bit hesitant at first, but head-butts lightly and remains in place for petting. She rolls onto her side and begins to purr. Reaction to being picked up: Mana remains calm and allows handling. As per previous owner, Mana has lived with one adult and one other cat. She is playful and receptive to the other cat in the house. She is very affectionate with family members and will seek attention, but prefers to do that on her own terms. She will flee from people she is unfamiliar with until she is ready to meet them. She is tolerant of being picked up, but will struggle free when she has had enough. Behavior Determination: Average Mana interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
