***SAFE 10/02/15*** PERFECTLY HEALTHY MADISON IS GOING TO DIE FOR NO REASON UNLESS SOMEONE CAN STEP UP TO ADOPT OR FOSTER HER!! MADISON was dumped because her owner was moving to a non-pet friendly home and was having a baby. Double betrayal!! MADISON is about 5 years old and the ACC can’t seem to tell if she is spayed or not. MADISON was good around dogs and is friendly with them. She liked to follow her owner around and sit on laps and gave kisses!!! Sounds like a purrfecty wonderful at to me!! MADISON got an EXPERIENCE rating from the assessor, although she solicited petting and attention, due to nipping the big fake hand they use to touch her. We all know this is just due to the stress of being abandoned in the shelter. MADISON DESERVES A FUREVER HOME WITH A FAMILY WHO WILL LOVE HER AND NOT THROW HER AWAY AGAIN!! PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTING THIS SWEET CAT. YOU WI

09/19/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/19/15 15:42 BASIC INFO Madison’s family adopted her from a shelter about 5 years ago. Her owner is surrendering her because she’s moving to a home that doesn’t allow pets and is about to have a baby. SOCIALIZATION Madison is friendly/outgoing with strangers. She spent time with children ages 0-12 and is relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with them. She plays exuberantly with people. A small dog visited her and she was relaxed, affectionate, playful, and tolerant with him. She’s never bit/scratched anyone. BEHAVIOR Madison cries in the car. She doesn’t mind when someone picks her up and holds her, brushes her, or wakes her up. She struggles when put into a carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Madison’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, quiet, and low-medium energy. She waits for her family at the door when they come home, follows them around, comes when called, sits in their laps, and likes to give kisses. She lived mostly inside. When living in a house, she would go outside and leave her yard. She knocked on the door to be let in at night. She ate dry food and got cat treats. She’s littertrained, used a hooded litterbox with clay and clumping litter, and doesn’t have accidents. She scratches horizontal cardboard scratchers with catnip as well as rubber flip flops, but not furniture. INTAKE Madison was a little tense and walked around with a low body during handling-scan (+), petting, picking up, positioning for pictures, and putting into a kennel. She hissed when I started to collar her, so I backed away and left her collar off. She didn’t swat, etc.

09/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per the previous owner, Madison is friendly and outgoing with strangers. She spent time with children and is relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with them. She plays exuberantly with people. When a small dog visited her, she was relaxed, affectionate, playful, and tolerant with him. Madison’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, quiet, and low-medium energy. She waits for her family at the door when they come home, follows them around, comes when called, sits in their laps, and likes to give kisses. Reaction to assessor: Madison was calm and relaxed by the front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Madison looks at the assessor and whines with her tail flickering sideways. Reaction to cage door opening: Madison remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Madison sniffs the assessor’s hand and then rubs to solicit attention. She growls and nips on the assessor’s hand when pet too roughly, but continues to solicit attention. Initially Madison solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body she begins to swat and nip at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Madison becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention. Behavior Determination: Experience Madison tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter. Although we are seeing some behaviors in the shelter that is not noted on the profile, we are basing the determination on the owner profile and the behaviors seen in the care center. We advise that adopters be aware of the behavior we are seeing and for any future home with children conduct a thorough interaction.
