***SAFE 08/02/15*** PERFECTLY HEALTHY CALICO KITTEN, DUMPED DUE TO LANDLORD, WAS FORMERLY “FRIENDLY AND AFFECTIONATE”, BUT WILL NOW DIE DUE TO HER FEAR – PLEASE GRANT LUNA A DEATH ROW PARDON!!! Lovely LUNA, a medium-haired calico kitten, just 22 months old, entered the kill-happy ACC due to LANDLORD issues. At home, Luna was SPECTACULAR: “Luna is shy with new people for a few minutes. She lived with 2 children, currently 6 and 16 years old. She was relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with them. Luna’s family describes her as friendly, playful, independent, quiet, and high energy. She follows her family around and sits in the window sill. She likes to play with balls and her track with a ball in it.” Luna also has perfect litter box and scratching post manners, but this poor girl is TERRIFIED in the scary shelter, so she acted in self-defense when she was poked and prodded with the frightening fake hand used for cat behavior tests. The ACC PUNISHED Luna with New Hope Only and fast-tracked her to the noon kill list for tomorrow, despite the fact that Luna is PERFECTLY HEALTHY! Please save this glorious girl! Start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt gorgeous calico kitten LUNA from the approved New Hope rescue groups! If you can’t save LUNA yourself, please SHARE her sad story and PLEDGE for her rescue!

07/28/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/28/15 17:53 BASIC INFO Luna’s family adopted her from another shelter 1.5 years ago when she was a kitten. They surrendered her due to landlord conflict. SOCIALIZATION Luna is shy with new people for a few minutes. She lived with 2 children, currently 6 and 16 years old. She was relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with them. She plays rough with people, play-biting them. Her play bites have never broken skin and she’s never bit outside of playing. Luna hasn’t been around other pets. BEHAVIOR Luna has no known behavior issues. She’s nervous in the car. Luna doesn’t mind nail trims, brushing, or being woken up. She play-bites when picked up and held. She struggles when put into a carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Luna’s family describes her as friendly, playful, independent, quiet, and high energy. She follows her family around and sits in the window sill. She likes to play with balls and her track with a ball in it. She lived inside and slept in a cat bed. She ate wet Friskies food. Luna is littertrained, uses her hooded litterbox with clumping litter, and doesn’t have accidents. She scratches a vertical, rope-covered scratching post and doesn’t scratch furniture. INTAKE Luna was brought to ACC in a cardboard box. She was hissing and pawing at holes in the box, so we allowed her to walk into her kennel without handling her. She sometimes paced at the front of her kennel as if she would flee. Later, she lied down at the back of her kennel.

Reaction to touch: Luna does not allow the stroke, hisses and strikes at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH ONLY Luna is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
