04/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lola has been in our care for a month and is not acclimating well to the shelter environment or to her caretakers. She is not demonstrating any aggressive behaviors but remains at the back of her cage, body low, pupils dilated, and remains uncomfortable with human interaction. We recommend placement into a stable home environment as soon as possible in order for Lola to feel more comfortable. Reaction to assessor: Lola is lying, crouched, in her litterbox when the assessor arrives. Reaction to cage door opening: Lola remains motionless, body low and pupils dilated. Reaction to touch: Lola allows gentle petting on the head and body but she does not relax, approach, or solicit attention at any point. Placement determination: Experienced adopters without children Lola tolerates minimal attention and petting and appears to be fearful and stressed in the shelter. She may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children. 3/26 eval: Notes: Lola was brought to the shelter as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment she was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Retreats as I started to get closer. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. Although she was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents with no small children. Reaction to assessor: was hiding when I approach cage (3) When spoken quietly: continues to hide (3) Reaction to door cage opening: retreats (3) Reaction to touch: seems indifferent (4) Reaction to toy or novel object: shows no interest (4) Try picking cat up: not tolerant of this type of handling, very afraid. Placement Determination: Experience no child
