07/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Lily was resting in her cage upon approach. When softly spoken to, she chirps and comes to the front. Reaction to cage door opening: Lily remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Lily head-butts the assessor’s hand and rubs her cheeks on the assessor’s hand, but may not like petting near her rear back. She focuses on the hand and lifts her paw as a warning, but will continue to solicit attention when petting on her head and shoulder area. Reaction to being picked up: Lily struggles and hisses. She starts to growl after and lifts her paw to swat again. As per previous owner, Lily has lived with adults and 3 children. They said she is tolerant with everyone in the house. She has also lived with a dog and a cat for two weeks, and was tolerant with them as well. They said she likes to be pet for short period of time and rarely seeks attention. The owner describes Lily as aloof, talkative, affectionate, and independent. Behavior Determination: Experience (no young children) Lily tolerates interacts with the Assessor and solicits attention, but may not like petting on certain areas of her body and dislike being picked up. Due to her reaction during the interaction and her willingness to strike out to avoid handling in certain situations, we feel that placement with experienced cat adopters is in Lily’s best interest. We advise a thorough interaction with any future home with children.
