06/03/15 20:16 Basic Information: Kurzon is a 6 year old orange tabby. His owner is no longer able to care for him due to pet conflits with the other resident cats. Socialization: Kurzon has lived with two other cats (male and female all fixed) for five years. The owner states the Kurzon “bullies” the other cats by blocking them from the food bowl, litter pans, and rooms of the homes. He will block the exit route with his body and hiss and swat if they try to cross. Owner states that the other cats will not sleep or play with him, but are very social with each other. Kurzon has not interacted with children or dogs. Behavior: Owner describes Kurzon as an affectionate cat that loves to interact with people. He tolerates baths, nail trims, and brushing. He will walk into a carrier with ease. He enjoys being held and does not scratch furniture. Owner does state that she must bathe Kurzon often as he will not engage in grooming behavior. If not bathed, his coat will get oily and dirty. Kurzon will not use a soiled litterbox. If the litter box does not have fresh litter, he will go outside. Owner did state that he may do better with an open litter pan, as they only use covered. For a New Family to KNow Kurzon uses fresh step litter and loves to play with wand toys. He scrathes on cardboard scratching posts and follows his owner around and stays by her side. He is fed nine lives dry food. Owner states that he loves to sleep on the rocking chair and would proabably do best as an only cat.

He would block the exit route with his body and hiss and swat if they try to cross. The previous owner stated that the other cats will not sleep or play with him, but are very social with each other. Kurzon has not interacted with children or dogs so his behavior towards them remains unknown. Notes: Kurzon at the time of the assessment was displaying friendly behavior, comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Kurzon is displaying behavior appropriate for a beginner cat owner. Reaction to assessor: comes to the front of the cage, soliciting, rubbing against the cage front (1) When spoken quietly: stays at front, continues soliciting attention (1) Reaction to door cage opening: remains soft & relaxed (1) Reaction to touch: solicits petting and attention (1) Try picking cat up: tolerant of this type of handling.
