KATIE KAT – A1043661

SAFE 8/7/15 A volunteer writes: Katie Kat is such a contradiction! She wants petting and affection so much — she comes to the front of her cage as soon as I approach — but she doesn’t trust me yet, either, so she never stays put to actually enjoy the attention. She is clearly sweet and gentle, but doesn’t completely understand what this “shelter” nonsense is all about. My home is at full cat capacity, or I’d snap her up in a second. It would be so rewarding to earn her trust and watch her learn to actually enjoy the affection she craves so much!

Behavior:
Katie Kat’s former owner describes her as a reserved and friendly medium activity cat. Katie Kat lived with a 6 year old child and a teenaged and was relaxed around them. She allowed them to pet her and pick her up as well. Katie Kat lived in her owners home with her litter of kittens. She interacted well with her kittens, feeding, them and playing with them.
Reaction to assessor: Katie looks tense in her cage when approached by the assessor.
Reaction to door opening: Katie remains lying down on her cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open.
Reaction to touch: Katie accepts the stroke, but began to lip lick in place and hiss at the assessor’s hand. She then remains cautious with her surroundings and began to low tail flick in place.
Placement determination: Experience / no child
Katie Kat tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
