KAT VON D – A1056464
Gone 11-2-2015 Brooklyn
**GONE 11/02/15** KAT VON D is a sassy girl who snuggled with the family dog and met the world on her terms, but that world crashed down on her as of October 30th. That is the day her former owners brought her to the ACC because she had been eliminating outside her litterbox for the past YEAR, but oh, did they take her to a vet? They said they did, and they said she had no health issues, but her surrender reason is “pet health” and even the incompetent ACC suggest that she would benefit from a competent vet exam. That’s a lot of mixed messages, but one thing is clear. This brassy girl with the EXPERIENCE rating will be killed at noon tomorrow, unless a FOSTER or ADOPTER is found for her tonight!

10/30/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/30/15 19:42 Basic Information: Kat Von D is a female orange tabby who was surrendered due to behavioral issues she has been displaying. She was originally found as a stray and has been living with her owner for about 4 years. She is described as bossy but sweet when she wants to be. Personality: Kat has not been around children. She has lived with two adults. Around other cats she is tolerant, but doesnt play. Around dogs she is relaxed and affectionate, her owner stated she loved to cuddle with their dog. Kat isn’t litterbox trained and regularly has accidents around the home. She has been kept mostly indoors. Behavior: When given a bath Kat will struggle and scratch; she will attempt to bite when her nails are trimmed. She isn’t bothered when her coat is brushed or when she is held. Kat often has litterbox problems and has been urinating and defecating outside her box for the last year. She was taken to the vet for this problem and her owner made changes but she still continued to have accidents indoors. For a new family to know: Kat’s owner has used several brands of litter including Freshstep, and several types of litterboxes. She had a scratching post at home and didnt use it. When home Kat tends to stay hidden and rarely seek out attention. She eats dry food, Trader Joes or Purina brands, she is free fed. Kat Von D usually sleeps in her owner’s bed. Upon intake Kat Von D was tense and had a firm body, she allowed all handling. Counselor was able to scan, collar and photograph.

11/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Kat is described as bossy but sweet when she wants to be. When home Kat tends to stay hidden and rarely seeks out attention. Around dogs she is relaxed and affectionate; her owner stated she loved to cuddle with their dog. Kat’s previous owners report that she was eliminating (urinating and/or defecating) outside the litterbox for the last year. Kat was seen by a veterinarian and has no known medical issues. We are unaware of what, if any, modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment. Reaction to assessor: Kat Von D makes eye contact with the assessor but does not come forward. Reaction when softly spoken to: Kat Von D remains motionless with eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Kat Von D is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Kat Von D comes forward and solicits attention. She allows petting and rubs her head against the assessor’s hand. Reaction to being picked up: Kat Von D allows handling but is a little tense. Behavior Determination: Experience Kat Von D may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. She may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
