This little lightweight is a true gentle soul. With his little meows he pulls at the strings of your heart. Once belonging to a family and now all alone he still manages to be serene and calm. He loves affection and enjoys petting and attention. He is still lively while in his retirement years. Take him home and offer him comfort and safety and make his twilight years unforgettable!” KALOS” owner had to surrender him due to a family members’ allergies who is going to be in the home caring for the previous owner. 09/21/15 16:11 BASIC INFO Kalo A1052243 is a 21 year old domestic shorthair cat. He was adopted from another shelter. Owner has had the cats for 21 years. The main reason for surrender is that a family member who is allergic to the cat is moving in to care for Owner. The cat had an abscess in it’s mouth and was last seen by a veterinarian 2 months ago for this condition. SOCIALIZATION Kalo is friendly with strangers. He has lived with a 1 year old and he played gently with the child. he plays gently with adults as well. He has never lived with any other animals. Kalo has never bitten or scratched anyone. BEHAVIOR The only behavior issue that Kalo has is that he poops out of the box at random times through out the month. He rode very well in the car. Kalo grooms himself. He is not bothered if you pick him up to hold him or if you place him in a carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Kalo is best described as friendly, affectionate and playful. He has a low activity level. Kalo loves to sleep. At home, he tends to follow you around. He loves to play with ball toys. He has been kept mostly indoors. He sleeps anywhere around the home. He is litter box trained and uses a hooded litter box with any kind of cat litter. He uses a flat carpet covered scratcher. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Kalo was very nice during intake.

As per previous owner, Kalo is friendly with strangers. He has lived with a 1 year old and he played gently with the child. He plays gently with adults as well. He has never lived with any other animals. Kalo has never bitten or scratched anyone. He rode very well in the car. Kalo grooms himself. He is not bothered if you pick him up to hold him or if you place him in a carrier. Kalo’s previous owner reports that he would occasionally defecate outside the litterbox, but we are unaware of what, if any, modification steps were taken to try and address this behavior. Kalo has not been seen to avoid his litter box while in the shelter environment. Reaction to assessor: Kalo is already at the front of the cage – looks at the assessor and is calm, relaxed and friendly. Reaction when softly spoken to: Kalo continues to look at the assessor – is calm, relaxed and friendly. Reaction to cage door opening: Kalo remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Kalo solicits petting and attention – rubbing against the assessor’s hand, Reaction to being picked up: Kalo starts to purr and jumps calmly back into the cage. Behavior Determination: Average Kalo interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is suitable for new or experienced cat parents.
