GONE- 04/17/15 JAKE NEEDS A HEAP OF TLC!! JAKE has a very bad URI and it is affecting his appetite as well as making him feel awful……JAKE is 5 years old and looks to have been on his own for awhile. CAN YOU HELP JAKE FEEL BETTER?? I am a male gray and white domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 5 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 04/13/2015 from NY 11219, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

04/15/2015 Exam Type RE-EXAM – Medical Rating is 3 C – MAJOR CONDITIONS , Behavior Rating is AVERAGE, Weight 7.3 LBS.
S/O: Monitoring condition for severe URI, conjunctivitis, monitoring appetite/hydration. ACO reports that patient had vomited a large amount this morning – appears to be brown/yellow fluid (poss. food). Urinated in litterpan, no BM. Food in cage did not appear eaten. QAR resting sternally in litterpan. 8-10% dehydrated Keratitis OD, mild amount of ocular discharge OU Mild amount of nasal discharge, bilaterally Bradycardic Lingual ulcers present at most rostral portion – 2 areas (approx. 2-3 mm each) A: 1. severe URI 2. Lingual ulcers – likely viral component Prognosis: Fair – Good P: 1. Continue current treatment plan. 2. Add Buprenex – 0.2 mL SL/SQ BID x 3 days 3. recheck on day 3 – monitor appetite, hydration, condition.

Notes: Jake was brought to the shelter as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying good behavior, did not come to the front of the kennel but interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Jake is displaying behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents. Reaction to assessor: does not come to front but looks at you, calm, relaxed and friendly (1) When spoken quietly: does not come to front but looks at you, calm, relaxed and friendly (1) Reaction to door cage opening: remains soft and relaxed (1) Reaction to touch: allows petting and attention (1) Try picking cat up: tolerant of this type of handling. Partial cleaning given – may need sedation for recheck/reclean. Sample taken show heavy ear mite infestation in both ears. 01.mL Ivermectin given Activyl applied
