IMPALA – A1040671
6-24-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 06/24/15***SAD AND SCARED BLACK AND WHITE KITTEN NEEDS YOU! What do you think? Should cats be killed for getting lost in NYC? Should it be easier to kill cats whose manners are less than stellar, when they are in the shelter system? Anyone who disagrees with those two premises should rally around 7 month old kitten, Impala tonight, because he is slated to die just because he got lost…and it will be more time-consuming for someone to step up for him, because he got a New Hope rating. Only a rescue can pull Impala from the ACC, and only tonight. A lot of things have to come together to help him but that does not make this impossible. Please turn things around for Impala right now.

06/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Impala came into the care center after being born outside. He has been fearful and difficult to handle since intake. Due to his history as well as the behaviors being seen in the care center, we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide socialization and positive experiences, and who understands that Impala may never been entirely comfortable living in a home. Reaction to assessor: Impala is hiding in his cat den when approached. He cannot be coaxed out. Reaction to cage door opening: Impala remains in his den. When the den door is opened, he retreats further. Reaction to touch: Impala allows a brief, gentle touch, then swats at the Assessor’s hand. Placement determination: New Hope Only Impala is displaying behaviors that will need further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. This cat needs to leave through a New Hope Partner.
