HUXLEY – A1050230

***GONE 09/08/15*** SUPER SWEET BUT SAD GREY TABBY KITTEN NEEDS YOU-BE HUXLEY’S HERO! Huxley is a purrfectly healthy and adoptable six month old kitten whose precious life is in peril. Huxley was trapped by a finder in the Bronx in his backyard. Not sure why some people think it’s okay to dump purrfectly healthy felines who are minding their own business at the kill happy shelter—especially in the midst of kitten season. Huxley tolerates all petting and handling—she is just a little frightened at the shelter and who can blame her? This great little girl deserves the chance to grow up in a loving home. She deserves a chance to grow up period. If you think that it’s unjust that a healthy and adoptable pet will die tomorrow and ready to be THE SOMEBODY in “somebody do something,” please reserve sweet Huxley online tonight. Or you can contact a NH rescue for assistance with transportation. And don’t forget that fostering saves lives so if you can offer temp safe haven, please let a rescue know (you need to live no more than an hour or so out of NYC). This sweet but sad grey tabby kitten only has tonight. Please don’t let her down. Be Huxley’s hero!!!

09/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Note: Huxley was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was very fearful upon intake and allowed minimal handling. She also allowed handling during her initial medical exam and may try to flee due to fear, but made no attempts to strike out. Reaction to assessor: Huxley was calm and relaxed by the front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Huxley backs away a little and focuses on the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Huxley hisses and retreats to the back. Reaction to touch: Huxley hides behind her litter box and lowers her head. She remains immobile for all petting, but lifts her head up to look at the assessor when petting has stopped. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Huxley tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
