***GONE 06/27/15*** SHY HOWARD WAS FOUND ON THE ROOF OF A BUILDING AND RESCUED BY HIS FINDER- SADLY SHE BROUGHT HIM TO THE ACC AND THIS PERFECTLY HEALTHY BOY WILL BE KILLED BECAUSE HE IS SHY AND AFRAID! A Staff Member Writes: “Howard may come off as a little shy but he is just misunderstood! When Howard sees you approaching the cage he will back up, but once he realizes you are just there to give him some tender loving care, he easily warms up and nudges his head into your hand for some head rubs. His beautiful black and white fur is just a dream to touch–you might not want to let go! His stunning green eyes are incredibly easy to get lost in, so make sure you take the day off to visit this little guy. He came to us as a stray, and might be missing his hey-day as a street cat, but he would do wonderfully in a home that is experienced with felines. Come meet this gem today!” DON’T LET THIS 2 YEAR OLD HEALTHY CAT BE KILLED BECAUSE HE IS AFRAID- HOWARD GOT AN EXPERIENCE RATING – HE IS NOT AT ALL AGGRESSIVE – CONTACT A RESCUE TO SAVE HIM NOW!!

06/25/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
6/25 update: Howard is demonstrating some conflicting behavior, approaching the assessor but retreating and sometimes swiping a paw when interaction is attempted. Howard’s behavior had previously improved but appears now to be deteriorating. We have no information on his behavior in a home environment, so we cannot be sure how much this behavior is influenced by the shelter environment. We recommend experienced adopters who will allow Howard to warm up to his new home and new family at his own pace. 6/4/15 re-eval: Notes: A re-evaluation was done when Howard began showing behavioral improvement in the care center. At the time of this assessment he was displaying friendly behavior, comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Howard is displaying behavior appropriate for a new cat owner. Reaction to assessor: does not come to front but looks at you, is calm, relaxed and friendly (1) When spoken quietly: comes to the front of cage, soliciting, rubbing against front (1) Reaction to door cage opening: remains soft and relaxed (1) Reaction to touch: solicits petting and attention (1) Try picking cat up: tolerant of this type of handling Placement Determination: Average — 4/29/15 eval: Notes: Howard was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Retreats as I started to get closer but after a steady low approach he relaxed a little and I was able to pet him and interact with him. I was also able to pick him up and although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Reaction to assessor: stays hidden at back of cage When spoken quietly: stays hidden at back of cage Reaction to door cage opening: contiunes to hide(3) Reaction to touch: moves away from me to avoid being touched (3) Try picking cat up: tolerant of this type of handling, nervous Placement Determination: Experience
