When I looked at her, she acted like a kid in a class who was just called on without raising her hand; “me? you mean me? I wasn’t doing anything wrong, I swear.” But then when she realized I was there to give her pets and hugs and kisses, she was all over it. She’s a sweetie! 04/27/15 09:49 BAISC INFORMATION: Honey is a 4 year old domestic short hair cat. She was bred at home. They are surrendering her because they are moving to a building complex in Upstate NY that does not accept pets. She does not have any known health conditions. The 2 things that the Family liked the most about Honey is that she runs fast and is protective. SOCIALIZATION: Honey never lived with kids, but a Godson of the Family would come to the home, and she was usually respectful and fearful of him. She does not play with children, and stays away from them. She is respectful and fearful of the cats she lives with, but can get somewhat rough with them. Honey is litter box trained. She has been kept mostly indoors, and has a medium activity level. She is best described as shy, assertive, talkative and independent. BEHAVIOR: The only behavior issue that Honey has is that she claws at the sofa. She struggles when it’s bath time, but enjoys being brushed. She does not like to be picked up. She is not bothered when placed in a carrier or is bothered when awakened. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Honey uses any kind or brand of cat litter. She uses a hooded litter box. She enjoys playing with mop strings and q-tips out of the garbage can. She does scratch on a sofa, but has a vertical scratching post made of rough rope. When home, Honey tends to follow you around. She does not play. Enjoys riding in a car. she eats both wet and dry food and sleeps anywhere in the home.

She does not play with children, and stays away from them. She is respectful and fearful of the cats she lives with, but can get somewhat rough with them. Honey is best described as shy, assertive, talkative and independent. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for scratching furniture should this behavior continue in a home environment. Reaction to assessor: Honey looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Honey remains lying down on her cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Honey accepts the stroke, stands with tail up, and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: She calmly jumps back into her cage. Placement determination: Average Honey interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
