HIRO – A1032933

GONE- 04/17/15 BE A HERO FOR HIRO TONIGHT – GRANT THIS EBONY PANTHER A DEATH ROW PARDON!! Owner dumped poor Hiro for personal problems. How a cat causes problems is a mystery. Hiro is 8 years old and already neutered. He was said to love to jump up onto his owners lap and be held. However he has lived with small children and is afraid of them and runs when he hears them and will hiss when they corner him. Gee, you wonder why? Hiro loves string toys and uses a scratch post. This wonderful house panther got an EXPNOCHILD rating due to the owner’s kids tormenting the poor cat. Hiro is a really nice boy with perfect house manners and deserves better. Sadly the ACC will end his chances of a happily ever after at NOON TOMORROW if someone doesn’t step up and adopt or foster him. CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO PULL HIRO – AND GET HIM SAFELY HOME!!

04/12/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/12/15 11:26 Basic Info: Hiro is an 8 year old neutered cat who has no prior injuries or medical problems. Social Life and Personality: He has been around children 4 years old and up and is fearful of them. When he hears them he will run away and hide and if children are persistent in trying to interact with him he will hiss and swat but only if he is cornered and can not escape. He has the same behavior with both cats and dogs. he is litter box trained, kept indoors only, and has a medium level of energy. He was described as shy, mellow, talkative, and independent. Behavior: He has not bitten or scratched anyone or any animal before. He is afraid and will struggle if given a bath and is fearful of getting his nails clipped but owner would sit and pet him for a few minutes and then do it and he was not bothered. He is friendly and enjoys being brushed. If owner went to pick up Hiro he would run away but when Hiro approaches he will jump onto owner’s lap and enjoy being held. He is not bothered being placed into a carrier. New Family Info: He is sued to clumping Litter (world’s best litter) inside a hooded box. He plays with wand and string toys and uses a vertical scratching post made out of rope. He will be in a favorite spot in the home (normally a window sill) and will seek attention from owner a few times a week. He was fed both wet and dry food and was on a schedule feeding (once at 6/7am and again at 6/7 pm). Intake Behavior: During intake would approach extended hand inside carrier. Allowed to be scanned (negative), collared, pictured, and transferred without aggression. When outside carrier would attempt to flee but did not hiss, growl, or swat. Inside new carrier sat at front and when given food was not interested.

04/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Please take note: Hiro’s former owner stated he has been around children 4 years old and up and is fearful of them. When he hears them he will run away and hide and if children are persistent in trying to interact with him he will hiss and swat but only if he is cornered and can not escape. He has the same behavior with both cats and dogs. He was described as shy, mellow, talkative, and independent. Reaction to assessor: Hiro looks tense in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Hiro remains crouched down at the back, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Hiro accepts the stroke, but lip licks in place. He then relaxes a bit after a few strokes by slowly head-butting the assessor’s hand, but remains cautious and seems unsure with his surroundings. Placement determination: Experience / no child Hiro tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
