*SAFE* 08/28/15 – Hipster is a young kitten who came in with an abscess on his chest. Our medical staff removed about 45ml of fluid, but he may need surgery to have a drain put in. Hipster needs follow up vet care as soon as possible. Please contact a NEW HOPE RESCUE if you can foster.

I am an unaltered male, brown tabby Domestic Shorthair mix.

The shelter staff think I am about 14 weeks old.

I weigh 3 pounds.

I was found in NY 11208.

I have been at the shelter since Aug 21, 2015.

Medical

Initial 08/22:

scan negative

intact male

weight: 2.8lbs

bright eyes

clean ears – em negative

dirty coat – flea positive

clean teeth

eats a little bit of soft food

dehydrated

has a wound/lesion under his chin

QAR

has a ball/mass on his back

parvo tested negative

very thin and underweight

easy to handle

will inform DVM of findings

NORMAL THORACIC AUSCULTATION; NORMAL ABDOMINAL PALPATION

LARGE FLUID FILLED MASS ENCOMPASSING ENTIRE LEFT LATERAL THORACIC REGION

SMALL WOUNDS UNDER CHIN/NECK

LIVE FLEAS

AMBULATORY X 4; VERY THIN BCS

FNA OF MASS – PURULENT DISCHARGE, CYTOLOGY SHOWS LARGE AMOUNT OF WHITE BLOOD CELLS, MAJORITY NEUTROPHILS, AND COCCI

ADMINISTED BUPRENEX 0.08ML PO AND PPG 0.2ML SQ. CLIPPED AND CLEANED ABSCESS – MADE TWO STAB INCISIONS, (1 LATERAL, 1 VENTRAL), REMOVED ~45ML OF PURULENT FLUID; FLUSHED WITH ~75ML OF DILUTE NOLVASAN; BATHED IN DILUTE CHLOROHEX AND SET UP IN CAT RECOVERY

REC NEW HOPE PLACEMENT FOR FOLLOW UP CARE (DRAIN PLACEMENT). REC AUGMENTIN 0.4ML PO Q12 X 10 DAYS AND ERYTHROMCYIN OU Q12 X 5 DAYS, BUPRENEX 0.06ML Q12 X 3 DAYS
