HANDSOME HEMMY IS a TABBI-RIFIC BEGINNER!! HEMMY is an adult cat (owner says 10, ACC says 5) who is a mellow, laid-back guy and has lived with another female cat. HEMMY has a history or UTI’s so his owner due to apparently HEMMY’s porblems and the owner’s, left him at the ACC. WRONG MOVE!! Now HEMMY is scheduled to die because of a treatable infection. HELP HEMMY FIND A HOME NOW!! NO REASON FOR HIM TO BE HERE OR THIS LIST!! SAVE THIS HAPPY GUY NOW!!

03/26/15 11:33 AM NAME Hemmy REASON FOR SURRENDER Due to health and personal reasons, owner could no longer keep Hemmy RELATIONSHIP Hemmy was found by a family member and given to his previous owner about 10 years ago. He is currently about 10 years. He scanned negative for a microchip. PEOPLE He lived in a home with 1 adult. He doesn’t play often, but when he does play with his owner, he is usually gentle. He only bit someone when he was a kitten and has not bitten or scratched anyone since. OTHER ANIMALS He lives in a home with a younger female cat. He is usually relaxed or affectionate towards her. He doesn’t usually play, but he will let her chase him sometimes. Owner states that he may run around for about a minute and that he will usually sit down and fall asleep. He is usually gentle when he plays. He has not bitten or scratched any other animals. PERSONALITY/HABITS He is an indoor only cat who mostly lies around and sleeps throughout the day. He has been described as friendly, shy, very mellow, quiet, and only talkative when he wants something. Owner states that he likes being near people. He doesn’t like having his nails trimmed or being held and usually struggles to get away during these events. He enjoys being brushed and he doesn’t mind being placed in his carrier. He has only been on the train and he usually meows or cries during train rides. He doesn’t play with any toys, but he does enjoy catnip. He usually follows his owner around when his owner is home. He eats Purina Cat Chow dry food and usually receives wet food as a treat. He uses a covered litter box with clumping litter. He tends to scratch on the furniture or a vertical scratching post made of carpet. He usually sleeps on the extra bed in the house. TRAINING He is litter box trained, but for the last couple of months (less than 6 months), he has had frequent litter box accidents which consist of peeing outside of the litter box. Owner stated he does have a UTI and is not peeing in the litter box because of this. MEDICAL Owner stated that Hemmy does have a UTI. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE During the intake he was relaxed. He had a soft body and he allowed petting and handling and showed no signs of aggression. He sat on the counter for several minutes and did not try to hide or jump off.

Reaction to assessor: Hemmy immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Hemmy remains at the front of the cage, soft and relaxed, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Hemmy rubs on the assessor’s hand, purrs, and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: Allows the pickup and remains calm. Placement determination: Beginner Hemmy interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
