She is also already SPAYED and 9 years young…..The ACC didn’t report and medical issues with HAZEL but she is having a rough time at the ACC and has a NEW HOPE rating…PLEASE HELP LOVELY HAZEL TONIGHT!! EVERYONE HAS ABANDONED HER!! APPLY TO FOSTER OR ADOPT SO SHE CAN FIND A NEW OWNER AND A NEW HOME FILLED WITH LOVE!!

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 12/17/2015 from NY 10002, owner surrender reason stated was OWNER DIED.

12/17/15 15:55 Basic Information Hazel was brought in as a stray, due to her owner passing. Client says Hazel has been in her family for years. Hazel is said to be tolerant of children. Owner says she doesn’t initiate play but will allow petting, and affection. Hazel was fed both wet and dry food, as well as table food. Client says as far as she knows there have been no past incidents of hazel biting anyone or another animal. Behavior during Intake Hazel was alert during intake. After being softly spoken to Hazel exited client’s carrier and accepted food. Once hearing a dog in the lobby, Hazel began to hiss and tail twitch. Hazel began growling at counselor, and swatted at counselor’s hand that was above her. No further handling was conducted.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Client says Hazel has been in her family for years. Hazel is said to be tolerant of children. Owner says she doesn’t initiate play but will allow petting, and affection. Hazel was fed both wet and dry food, as well as table food. Reaction to assessor: Hazel looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Hazel remains lying down at the front of the cage, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Hazel does not allow the stroke, hisses and spits at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH ONLY Hazel is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
