05/07/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/07/15 09:04 Basic Info: Grandpa is a 1 year old male cat who has no prior injuries or medical problems the owner knew of. He was bred at home and has not seen a vet before. He was surrendered to the shelter because the owner had too many pets in the home. Social Life and Personality: According to the owner he has not been around children or dogs so her behaviors are unknown. He lived with 9 other cats and he was relaxed, affectionate, and respectful. When he played with them it was gentle but the majority of the time he did not try to play with the other cats. He is litter box trained, kept indoors only, and has a medium level of energy. Behaviors: He has not bitten or scratched anyone or any animal before. He was never given a bath of had his nails clipped so his behaviors are unknown but he enjoyed being brushed. He was afraid and would struggle when picked up, held, or placed into a carrier. New Family Info: He is used to clay litter inside an uncovered box. He plays with balls and catnip toys and used a vertical scratching post made out of rough rope and cardboard. He was play gentle with owner and was fed both wet and dry food (Friskies) on a free fed system. Intake Behavior: During intake he allowed to be scanned (negative), collared, pictured, and transferred without aggression. Was talkative throughout intake and when touched had soft body and brushed against hand. When inside new carrier retreated to back but after a minute came to the front and brushed against door. When given food would eat at front of carrier.

05/09/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
According to the former owner he has not been around children or dogs so his behavior is unknown. He lived with 9 other cats and he was relaxed, affectionate, and respectful. When he played with them it was gentle but the majority of the time he did not try to play with the other cats. Reaction to assessor: Grandpa looks tense in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Grandpa remains crouched down at the back, alert with a hard stare. Reaction to touch: Grandpa accepts the stroke, but stiffens during the touch and began to lip lick in place. Placement determination: Experience / no child Grandpa tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
