04/06/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/06/15 11:55 BASIC INFO Gracie’s family got her 9 years ago from another shelter. They surrendered her because their dog tries to harm her. PEOPLE Gracie hasn’t been around children. She’s friendly with strangers and hasn’t bit or scratched anyone. ANIMALS Gracie lived with an older female cat in the past. They left each other alone. She lived with a small dog. The dog chased and barked at her. She hid from the dog. When the dog cornered her, she hissed and ran. She never made physical contact with the dog (eg swatting, scratching, biting). PERSONALITY Gracie’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, quiet, playful, mellow, and medium activity. She follows her family around sometimes, often sitting in their lap. Other times she rests in a comfortable spot. She likes balls and stuffed toys and plays exuberantly with people. HABITS Gracie lived inside and slept in the kitchen. She used to sleep in bed with her owner. She eats 9 Lives dry and wet food. She used an uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. She scratches a vertical carpeted post when she has one. She only scratches furniture (chairs) when she doesn’t have a scratching post. TRAINING Gracie was housetrained. She never had accidents until a year ago when she moved in with the small dog. Because of the dog, she stays in the kitchen where the dog can’t get to her almost all of the time. Her owners are unwilling to have a litterbox in the kitchen. Because of this, she has an accident (both #1 and #2) in the kitchen every 1-2 days. BEHAVIOR Gracie has no known behavior issues besides her litterbox issues described above. She loves being brushed. She doesn’t mind being picked up/held, put in a carrier, or woken up. She’s nervous in the car. INTAKE Gracie was tense with wide eyes during handling-scan (negative), collar, petting, pictures, taking in and out of carrier. She walked around the counter slowly and crouched. She was easy to handle and didn’t resist, retreat, or vocalize.
