08/23/15 20:53 BASIC INFORMATION Goshi is a domestic short hair calico cat, which is 8 years old. Goshi was a gift from the neighbor when she was small kitten. The family had Goshi for 8 years and has become part of the family. However owner is surrendering Goshi because where she is moving they prohibit animals. SOCIALAZATION Goshi has been around new born and young children since she was a kitten. She is gently and relaxed around children. She allows being pet and rubs for attention. Goshi is also gentle with teens and adults. She seeks for attention by leaning in and rubbing. She is a bit timid around stranger but she will approach and sniff. Around other cats she is tense and reactive. She hisses and growls at the sight of other cats. She is fearful around dogs and attempts to hide. BEHAVIOR Goshi is very independent cat. She allows being pet but becomes fussy when being picked up and held. She does not like screeching or very loud noises sound and attempts to scratch in fear. She struggling when given baths, having her nails trimmed and being held up. She always uses her open litter box and has never had an accident. She has never bitten or scratched. FOR NEW FAMILIAS TO KNOW Goshi is described as very independent, mellow and shy. She enjoys being on her own and lounging around the house on her own. She grooms her nails on the kitchen cabinets and sofa. She enjoys siting by the window and enjoys a cool braise. She enjoys any brand of cat food but prefer Meow mix the most. All her life she has been an indoors cat. When Goshi seeks attention she meow and rubs on owner legs. She loves gentle strokes on her back. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE During intake she was a bit tense. She struggle come out of her carrier. But allowed being collard, photographed and scanned. She accepted gentle petting and strokes.

Reaction to assessor: Goshi looks tense in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Goshi remains crouched down on her cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Goshi does not allow the stroke, strikes and hisses at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH Only Goshi is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
