I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 10/08/2015 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

10/08/15 10:30 Gopher is a 3 month old gray domestic shorthair cat who arrived as a stray surrender. Upon intake Gopher was very still for introduction. Gopher allowed himself to be picked up but was tense for handling and attempted to flee. Gopher was not defensive. Counselor was able to collar and photograph but not scan for microchip.

10/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Gopher does not come to front cage. She watches the assessor from the back of the cage in a low and tense position. When spoken quietly: Gopher continues to watch assessor from the back of the cage Reaction to door cage opening: Gopher hisses at the assessor Reaction to touch: Gopher remains motionless while being petted Try picking cat up: Gopher is very tense while being held and attempts to flee. She does relax over time and stops struggling Determination: Experience At the time of the assessment Gopher was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. I was also able to pick Gopher up. We recommend that Gopher goes to a home with experienced cat parents.
