RELATIONSHIP Goldie was adopted from a shelter about 9 years ago and she is currently about 11 years old. She scanned negative for a microchip. PEOPLE She lives in a home with adults and 2 children ages 2 and 12. She is usually fearful around the children and usually will not play with them. If she does play, she is gentle. She is also gentle when she plays with her owner. She has not bitten or scratched anyone. OTHER ANIMALS She has lived with a 3 year old Miniature Schnauzer and she was usually very tolerant of him. She otherwise has not interacted with any other animals and has not bitten or scratched any animals. PERSONALITY She is a moderately active indoor only cat who has been described as fearful, affectionate, quiet, and independent. She enjoys playing with strings and catnip toys. She enjoys being brushed and held. She doesn’t mind being placed in a carrier. She is usually afraid when you disturb her while she is sleeping. She likes to follow her owner around, be in the same room as her owner, or stay hidden when her owner is home. She meows or cries during car rides. She eats 9 Lives dry and wet food. She receives one can of wet food a day and always has dry food. She uses an uncovered litter box with clay litter. She sometimes scratches on the furniture; it should be noted that she doesn’t have a scratching post. TRAINING She is litter box and has not had any accidents. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE She was somewhat nervous during the intake. She had a somewhat stiff body and dilated pupils, and she attempted to hide once out of her carrier. She allowed handing and showed no signs of aggression.

If she does play, she is gentle. She has lived with a 3 year old Miniature Schnauzer and she was usually very tolerant of him. Also, has been described as fearful, affectionate, quiet, and independent. Reaction to assessor: Goldie looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Goldie remains sitting upright on her cage bedding, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Goldie accepts the stroke, purrs in place, and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: She calmly jumps back into her cage. Placement determination: Average Goldie interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
