GLADYS – A1060227
Gone 12-14-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 12/14/15** POOR GLADYS was DUMPED due to child conflict, however it seems that she was”tolerant ” of children in the home that were over the age of 5. It is likely an excuse the owner came up with to wipe their conscious clean! GLADYS was really only comfortable with her previous owner, and now she’s been left, high and dry and if no one can save her she will DIE! This 5 year old is RESCUE ONLY so she needs someone to offer to FOSTER or ADOPT her and contact a NEW HOPE RESCUE NOW! She’s got the sweetest little face and just needs a new owner who will love her like she’s really a part of the family….because you don’t just DUMP family members!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Gladys’s previous owner states that she is affectionate, methodical, talkative, and reserved. She has lived in an adult only home, but has interacted with children 5 years old and older. She was tolerant of children, but would only allow petting when she approached the family member. She is normally found lounging around at home and will hide when there are visitors. She will allow petting and being held by her owner and will run off if another family member attempts to hold her. She will swipe without nails to let someone know when she has had enough petting. Reaction to assessor: Gladys becomes stiff and alert upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Gladys focuses on the assessor and starts to growl. Her ears bend flat against her head. Reaction to cage door opening: Gladys hisses and charges to the front to strike. Reaction to touch: Gladys does not allow touch; she hisses, spits, and swats at the assessor’s hand. She continues to growl and seems extremely cautious of her surroundings. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Gladys is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, she is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
