***SAFE 06/30/15*** EBONY LOVEBUG, GREAT WITH KIDS AND DOGS, IS PERFECTLY HEALTHY WITH A GOOD BEHAVIOR RATING, BUT THE ACC WILL KILL HIM ANYWAY – PLEASE GRANT GHANDI A DEATH ROW PARDON!!! Gorgeous plush-velvet black gentleman GHANDI, six years old, was sadly surrendered to the kill-happy ACC due to LANDLORD issues. At home, Ghandi was PURRFECT: “Ghandi has interacted with children ages 2, 5, and 9. He seems to be hesitant with children at first, but warms up after being bribed with food and will allow the children to softly pet him (Children gave Ghandi a lick of their ice cream cone). He has never interacted with cats before, but does play with a friend’s dog. He has been around dogs of all sizes and remains relaxed and calm once he can smell them. Ghandi is described as a high enegry cat that loves to run around the house. He is mostly an indoor cat but the owner does take him for walks around the neighborhood during the summer. Ghandi remains calm outside and follows him. He loves to play with all toys, but his favorite are toy mice stuffed with catnip. He follows his owner everywhere he goes and plays with his owner somewhat rough, but will stop when asked.” Ghandi earned a very good EXPNOCHILD behavior rating. But the ACC will MURDER this charming boy at noon tomorrow, despite the fact that Ghandi is PERFECTLY HEALTHY! Don’t let it end this way for this stunning boy. Start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt lovebug GHANDI! If you can’t save GHANDI yourself, please SHARE his sad story and PLEDGE for his rescue!

His last vet visit was a year ago and he had no apparent health issues. Owner can no longer keep Ghandi due to landlord issues. Socialization Ghandi has interacted with children ages 2, 5, and 9. Behavior: Ghandi is described as a high enegry cat that loves to run around the house. He is mostly an indoor cat but the owner does take him for walks around the neighborhood during the summer. Owner says Ghandi remains calm outside and follows him. He loves to scratch cardboard boxes, but will not scratch furntire. Ghandi does struggle when getting nails trimmed, but does not vocalize or attempt to scratch/bite. He enjoys being brushed and owner can hold him for about 5 minutes before Ghandi taps him with his paws to let him down. He will walk into a carrier on his own. The only behavior issue owner stated is that Ghandi does beg for table food and will meow and follow guests in the house. For a New Family to Know Ghani uses Fresh Step litter in an uncovered litter box. He loves to play with all toys, but his favorite are toy mice stuffed with catnip. Owner states that Ghandi will pounce and destroy them in seconds. He follows his owner everywhere he goes and plays with his owner somewhat rought, but will stop when asked. He became more tense after collaring and began to flick his tail back and forth with his ears starting to tilt back. After taking a photo his tail flicking became more intenes and he began to growl. Ghandi was then allowed to walk back into his carrier where he begain to relax again

06/26/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ghandi’s former owner stated he has interacted with children ages 2, 5, and 9. Reaction to assessor: Ghandi looks neutral in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Ghandi remains sitting upright on his cage bedding, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Ghandi accepts the stroke, stands with tail up but becomes agitated with the touch. He began to growl, while his sight was on another cat in a near by cage. Placement determination: Experience / no child Ghandi tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
