GELATO – A1046139
8-6-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 08/06/15*** SWEET GELATO is only a year old, found in an area of Manhattan not known for it’s strays-yet, he was brought in as a ‘stray’. It’s a sure bet that GELATO was either abandoned or became lost-he was brought in with other cats-it’s possible someone dumped them and left. We may never know-but what we do know is that mannerly, head butting and gentle GELATO is in danger tonight. He really needs someone to scoop him up and take him home, to bring him to safety. Why foster? Because you will get the joy of opening the ACC box and seeing him look up at you, knowing he made it out alive and you will be his partner in finding a forever home. PLEASE SAVE GELATO TONIGHT!

08/04/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Gelato was calm, but is focused on the assessor upon approach. He looks at the assessor when softly spoken to, but looks away again. Reaction to cage door opening: Gelato becomes alert, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Gelato was very hesitant, but seems to appreciate when the assessor pets him on his head and body. He warms up, starts to head-butt, and rolls around on his back, but will not come to the front. He keeps his distance and only solicits attention if the assessor initiates contact first. Reaction to being picked up: Gelato becomes tense, but allows handling. Behavior Determination: Experience Gelato tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
