GARFIELD – A1051992
Safe 9-30-2015 Manhattan
**SAFE 09/30/15** NEW HOPE RESCUE NEEDED TONIGHT! Meet GARFIELD, a terrified 8-month-old boy who was brought to the shelter as a stray on September 19. His health is good, good enough to suggest that GARFIELD is actually someone’s lost pet. Although he has been defensive at the shelter, please do NOT assume that is how he will always behave! Pets (and people) do some uncharacteristic things when they are scared, or feel they are facing death…..which, unfortunately, GARFIELD is very much facing! Please do NOT let this freaked-out kitten be killed by the shelter, simply for being scared! Work with a NEW HOPE rescue partner to pull him to safety, tonight!

09/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Garfield looks tense in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Garfield remains crouched down at the back of the cage, lip licking in place. Reaction to touch: Garfield does not allow the stroke, low growls with ears down to the side and retreats further into the back. Placement determination: NH ONLY Garfield is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
