GARFIELD – A1033605

**GONE 05/04/15** SECOND TIME ON THE LIST! “A Staff Member Writes: This little cuddlebug doesn’t really take after her comic counterpart – she’s really not very chunky, they don’t look very much alike, and I don’t sense any sarcastic hostility toward our dogs. Perhaps her previous owner named her for her affinity for lasagna. She’s been a little nervous here, making nests for herself in her blanket, so she’s not getting noticed as much as she should for such a sweet and beautiful cat, but I know with her nuzzles and soft-as-velvet fur that she’s someone’s perfect match. Come to Brooklyn today to see if it’s you! A volunteer writes: Garfield the lovely calico kitty seems to shy about coming out to meet you, but just give her a little time. You can reach in and encourage her, and sure enough, she leans into your caresses and asks for more. She is absolutely purr-fect and positively pretty. Let her warm up to you and soon your heart will be glowing with love. A name change might be in order, too, but any way you look at it, this beautiful girl is a winning ticket.” Garfield is friendly, beautiful, and out of time at the ACC. Please don’t stop advocating for her until a foster or adopter is found, tonight!

04/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Garfield came to us as an owner surrender on 4/18/15. Upon intake Garfield was not able to be handled by an admissions counselor, but allowed handling with soft body language during its medical exam. Garfield could be seen hiding at the back of the kennel when approached. He allows the assessor to touch him soft, but is immobile and seems uncomfortable. The behavior department believes that Garfield can go to an experienced home, where his behavior may change in a more comfortable environment. Reaction to assessor: continues to hide (was hiding when you approached cage) (3) When spoken to quietly: continues to hide (3) Reaction to cage door opening: remains motionless or does not respond (2) Reaction to touch: continues to hide from you – immobile when you touch him/her (3)
