07/07/15 10:22 Basic information Gabby is a 13 year old Gray and white domestic short hair cat with no known medical conditions. Owner has had Gabby for 13 years and is surrendering because of house soil. Social life and personality Gabby has been in a home with older adults for her whole life and has not been socialized with children dogs or other cats. With strangers Gabby is shy and will hide when people are over. Gabby was described and shy and quiet with a low activity level. Behavior Gabby was litter box trained and never had accidents before this past month. For the last month Gabby has stopped using litter box and has been soiling different places all over the house. Gabby has never been given a bath or had her nails trimmed but isn’t bothered when being brushed. Gabbing allows being picked up by owner but runs away and hides from strangers. For the new family to know Gabby has an uncovered litter box and uses the litter brand Bistro Blend. When in the home she tends to be around the owner but if people come over she will hide. In the car rise Gabby meowed/cried. Gabby has little interest in toys and playing but enjoys being pet by people she knows. Gabby eats dry food and prefers the brand Friskies. gabby sleeps in the bedroom on the bed. Behavior during intake. Gabby came was vocal during intake and was trying to get out of carrying case. Gabby allowed to be scanned and collared but continued to meow until in kennel.

Reaction to Assessor: Gabby was calm and relaxed upon approach. When softly spoken to, she meows, comes to the front, chirps, and rubs against the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Gabby retreats, but rubs against her litter box. Reaction to touch: Gabby head-butts and begins to purr. She may be a little shy; she solicits attention by rubbing against objects in her cage, but will show affection when pet by the assessor. Reaction to being picked up: Gabby allows handling, but may struggle due to girth. As per previous owner, Gabby lived with older adults for her entire life. She is shy around strangers and may hide when people are over. She is quiet with a low activity level. The owner does mention a concern; she has stopped using her litter box and has been soiling in different areas around the house. We advise any potential adopter to be prepared for this behavior, and be prepared to manage it if it appears in a future home. Methods of managing and attempting to modify this behavior can be discussed with the Adoption Counselors. Behavior Determination: Average Cricket interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. She may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
