07/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Flounder was calm and relaxed upon approach. When softly spoken to, she looks around and avoids eye contact. Reaction to cage door opening: Flounder remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Flounder comes to the front, sniffs the assessor’s hand and head-butts. However, when pet on her back, she turns her head and becomes stiff. She swats and hisses when pet on her lower back, but continues to solicit attention by head-butting again. Note: Flounder was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She did not allow handling upon intake and became defensive during the initial medical exam. She appears to appreciate petting on her head, but may be uncomfortable with touch on her lower back. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Flounder is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat and does not currently tolerate petting or handling on her back. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
