FELIX – A1036950

***GONE 07/05/15*** FAB FELIX FRIENDLY & HEALTHY HUNKY ANGEL NEEDS YOU-BE HIS HERO! Doesn’t fabulous four year old Felix look positively ferocious? Sad sigh. This great guy was returned to the shelter for “attacking people.” Upon intake, this ferocious fella was headbutting everyone and allowing for all petting and handling. Sounds like he may have scratched someone but if you look at his notes, sounds like his claws need a trimming. Even the sweetest kitty can cause some pain when nails go unclipped. He is respectful around kids, playful, shy, friendly, already neutered and at 18 lbs. there’s a whole lot of Felix to love. He is also healthy—not a sneeze or sniffle noted. Yet the ACC has decided that his precious life is expendable when tomorrow afternoon rolls around. Are you angry yet? Well, here’s your chance to step up and be THE SOMEBODY in somebody do something. Please open up your heart and home to fab Felix. Even if you can only offer temporary safe haven, let a rescue know. Be fab Felix’s hero!!!

06/23/15 11:14 NAME Felix REASON FOR SURRENDER Felix seems to scratch when he plays or wants to play and owner could no longer keep him due to the scratching. RELATIONSHIP Felix’s previous owner received him from a family about 2 years ago and he is currently about 4 years old. He scanned positive for a microchip. PEOPLE He lived in a home with 2 adults. He has lived with and interacted with children ages 2-16. Owner stated that he would usually play somewhat roughly with the children, but normally was respectful. He has scratched someone in the last 10 days. PERSONALITY He is a moderately active indoor only cat who has been described as playful, shy around new people, friendly, quiet (although he will meow when he is hungry), and independent. He doesn’t have any toys, but he does enjoy chasing. He has not received a bath, nail trimming, or coat brushing, so his behavior during these events is unknown. He doesn’t like being held and he usually struggles to get away. He isn’t bothered if you place him in a carrier or disturb him while he is sleeping. He usually meows during car rides. He likes to be in the same room as his family when they are home. He eats Fancy Feast dry and wet food and he is free fed dry food and given wet food twice daily. He usually sleeps on his bed in his crate. He sometimes scratches on the furniture and has a vertical scratching post made of rough rope. TRAINING He is litter box trained and he hasn’t had any accidents. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE He was very sweet during the intake. He had a soft body and soft eyes. He solicited attention by licking and head butting the admissions counselor’s hand. He allowed petting and handling and showed no signs of aggression.

07/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Felix’s former owner stated he has lived in a home with 2 adults. Also, lived with and interacted with children ages 2-16. He would usually play somewhat roughly with the children, but normally was respectful. Reaction to assessor: Felix looks neutral in his cage when approcahed by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Felix remains lying down on his cage bedding, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Felix accepts a stroke, but becomes overly aroused with the touch then nips with a low tail flick and swats off the assessor’s hand, to stop. Placement determination: Experience / no child Felix tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
