12/24/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
12/24/15 13:06 Exodus is a 13 year old brown tabby and white female spayed domestic shorthair cat who is being surrendered because the family has difficulty with her personality. Exodus has been with the family since she was a kitten. Exodus lives with 2 adults and 5 children ranging in ages of 10-16 years old. There are no other animals in the home. Exodus is not receptive to interaction with all family members at all times. When she is receptive she allows approach and interaction for petting, when she is not she may swat or soft bite (no bites within 10 days) to ward off the person. She may also flee from interactions. When visitors come to the home she will greet them to investigate and then go off on her own. Exodus is an indoor cat using an open litter box with clumping litter. Exodus will not allow bathing or a nail trim from the family. Exodus prefers not to be picked up or brushing. Exodus will resist going into a carrier and is vocal for a car ride. Exodus has a ball toy which she does not use but likes to play swat and chase with objects in the house. She has a scratching post made of rough rope that she uses. She will also sometimes scratch wood furniture in the home. When the family is home she likes to be in her own space but may also spend time with the family. When home alone she is well behaved. Exodus eats dry food. Upon intake Exodus was shy for introduction and sensitive to handling with a tense body. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) collar and photograph. Exodus ate well when offered food. Exodus was very still for petting and would at times attempt to flee but did not become defensive. Exodus was easily replaced to the carrier.

12/28/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Exodus’s previous owner states that she has lived two adults and five children ages 10-16 years old. There were no other animals living with him. She is receptive to interaction with the family members when she approaches them for petting, but when she is not she may swat or nip softly to ward off the person. She may also flee from interactions. When visitors come to the home she will greet them to investigate and then go off on her own. She prefers not to be picked up or brushed. Reaction to Assessor: Exodus remains calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Exodus looks at the assessor with relaxed eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Exodus becomes alert and slowly moves to the other side of the cage. Reaction to touch: Exodus was hesitant, but she sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows petting. She leans into touch, but stiffens and hisses when touched on her back. She allows petting when approached very slowly. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Exodus tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center and from the information provided by the previous owner, we feel that this cat will do best in a home with experienced cat parents and without children.
