04/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Ella became stiff and alert upon approach. When softly spoken to, she meows softly and grumbles. Reaction to cage door opening: Ella hisses and backs away from the opening. Reaction to touch: Ella hisses and growls at the assessor’s hand. She does not allow touch, and swats at the assessor’s hand when it reaches her. As per previous owner, Ella has lived with 2 adults, 1 teenager, and 2 children for a year. They said she loves to play, enjoys petting, uses a scratch post, and loves to cuddle and be picked up. She was easy to handle during her initial medical exam, but her behavior has declined and became more defensive during her stay in the care center. Behavior Determination: NH ONLY Ella is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, scratch, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
