08/28/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/28/15 11:27 Basic Info: Dusty A1049468 is a 1 1/2 yr old male brown tabby DSH feline who was given to the owner by a neighbor at 3months old and is being surrendered due to Dusty not using the litter box consistantly and going through out the home. Dusty has never been to a veterinarian nor has he been to one concerning this issue. He currently has no known health issues, concerns or injuries. Socialization: Dusty is shy for a few minutes with strangers. He’s lived with a 1 1/2 yr old and is relaxed/affectionate and plays gently and exuberantly with them. The child “beats the cat up” (squeezing, pulling on the ears & tail) and the cat just sits there. Dusty is the same with adults and the 3yr old male Pitbull that lives in the home as well. Dusty has never bitten/scratched a person or animal. Behavior: Dusty doesn’t always use his litter box and “goes” around the home daily (he hasn’t been taken to a veterinarian concerning this issue). Dusty hasn’t had a bath, his nails trimmed or been brushed. He enjoys being pet/held and doesn’t mind being placed into a carrier but will cry/meow once inside. For a New Family to Know: Dusty is described as friendly, affectionate, playful and talkative with a medium-high activity level. The owner likes how good Dusty is with the child and Dusty loves to sleep and eat. When the owner is home Dusty will follow them around. He enjoys ball toys. Dusty’s an indoor only cat who sleeps in his cat condo. Dusty eats Nine Lives dry cat food 1x a day. Dusty has accidents outside the litter box on the daily, his litter box is uncovered with clay litter within. Dusty uses his cat condo as a scratching post. Intake Behavior: Dusty allowed all handling. He allowed us to scan (-), collar and take his pictures including positioning him during the photo session.

09/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Dusty is shy for a few minutes with strangers. He has lived with a child and is relaxed, affectionate, and plays gently and exuberantly with him. The child will squeeze and pull on Dusty’s ear, but he tolerates it and sits there. He behaves the same around adults and the Pit-bull he lived with. He has never bitten or scratched anyone. He was described as friendly, affectionate, playful, and talkative with a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Dusty was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Dusty gets up and stretches. Reaction to cage door opening: Dusty becomes alert, but remains calm. Reaction to touch: Dusty a bit hesitant at first, but leans onto the assessor’s hand when pet and starts to purr. He lifts his butt up when pet on his lower back. Reaction to being picked up: Dusty remains calm and allows handling. Note: Dusty’s previous owners report that he has been eliminating outside the litter box. He was not seen by a veterinarian so it is unknown if this behavior is caused by a medical issue. We are unaware of what, if any, modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litter box should this behavior continue in a home environment. Behavior Determination: Average Dusty interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
