***SAFE 07/08/15***DARLING DUKE—SAD & SCARED BETRAYED HOUSEPET NEEDS YOU! Sad sigh! Poor Duke! As if it weren’t bad enough that this frightened feline’s precious life is in peril tonight at the ACC, she has the crummiest picture that doesn’t do her beautiful self justice. Duke was sadly surrendered with several of her housemates including Bubbles (also listed tonight) due to their owners’ “personal problems.” That’s no lie, because that wretched level of commitment on their end points up a host of flaws in their character…but more importantly, it could be the death warrant for poor Duke. This great girl was calm and friendly—just like her former owner said but then got naturally stressed at the shelter. This pretty kitty is confused, frustrated, and bereft, emotions she has been processing. To add insult to injury, darling Duke has been slapped with a NH rating along with a date with death tomorrow afternoon.. Please help Duke and her feline friend, Bubbles find the sort of family they should have had in the first place. It’s time that humans stop betraying this cat, and start fighting for her. Won’t you please help write a happy ending to this sad tale? Please contact a NH rescue if you can open up your heart and home to darling Duke and-or beautiful Bubbles!

07/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Duke meows softly upon approach. When softly spoken to, she continues to meow and comes to the front to sniff the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Duke remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Duke rubs against various objects in her cage, but only allows brief touch before she stiffens up and hisses. She starts to yowl and swats at the assessor’s hand when attempting to pet her again. Behavior Determination: NH ONLY Duke is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She does not currently tolerate petting or handling. Due to her willingness to strike out in order to avoid handling in certain situations, the behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
