***GONE 07/02/15*** 13-YEAR-OLD SENIOR, “FRIENDLY AND CURIOUS” AT FIRST, WAS DUMPED BECAUSE SHE HAS A TUMOR BEHIND HER EAR AND NOW WILL DIE DUE TO HER FEAR – PLEASE GRANT DORA A DEATH ROW PARDON!!! Darling DORA, a 13-year-old white and gray tabby beauty, was BETRAYED by her old owner, who dumped this pretty princess for PET HEALTH: ” Dora has been surrendered due to the fact that she has a tumor. Dora’s tumor is located in her right ear which has leaked and pussed over.” At first, Dora was a perfect angel in the scary ACC: “Dora is quiet and friendly and shows no signs of aggression due to her condition. Dora has shown signs of curiosity at her new circumstance and demonstrates a good temperament throughout.” But this is one smart elder-cat who soon realized that the ACC meant her mortal harm! So she reacted very defensively and the ACC PUNISHED this poor senior with New Hope Only, fast-tracking her to the noon kill list for tomorrow. Please give this dear senior a second chance at proper vetting, treatment, and a loving forever home. Start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt darling senior DORA from the approved New Hope rescue groups! If you can’t save DORA yourself, please SHARE her sad story and PLEDGE for her rescue!

07/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Dora was hissing and growling upon approach. When softly spoken to, she focuses on the assessor and continues to growl. Reaction to cage door opening: Dora becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Dora hisses at the assessor’s hand and backs away. When attempting to pet, she lifts her paw up and swats at the hand. Reaction to being picked up: Note: Dora was surrendered due to a medical condition. Despite her condition, the owner states she remained quiet and friendly. She was a bit tense and nervous during her medical exam, but she is creating distance between her and the assessor during the interaction. It is difficult to tell at this time how her medical condition may be influencing the behavior. Behavior Determination: NH ONLY Dora is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
