Donut is an affectionate and loving gingerbread man who was a faithful feline friend for the past several years and was sadly surrendered due to “housing issues.” Ugh. This great guy has lived with kids, cats and is playful and loving towards everyone. We all know that male creamsicles are the friendliest felines around and our man Donut is surely no exception. 07/28/15 16:19 BASIC INFORMATION: Donut is a 10 year old neutered cream tabby with no know medical conditions. Owners have had Donut for 10 years and is surrendering him because of housing situations. SOCIALIZATION: Donut has lived with children ages 1 and 6. Towards children Donut is relaxed, affectionate and plays gently. Donut has also lived with other cats and is respectful and loves to play gently with them. Donut is litter box trained and is kept only indoors. Donut was described as playful, friendly and quiet with a medium activity level. BEHAVIOR: Donut has never been given a bathe but is tolerant of having his nails trimmed. When being brushed Donut becomes tense and struggles to get away. Donut isn’t bothered by being picked up, held or being put in a carrier. FOR NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Donut uses a hooded litter box and prefers clumping litter. Donut enjoys playing with stuffed mice and uses a carpet scratching post. When in the home Donut tends to follow you around and engages in gentle play. In car rides Donut is afraid and cries. Donut eats Friskies both wet and dry food. Donut sleeps in an igloo cat bed or under the sofa. BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Upon intake Donut appeared to be curious of his surroundings, he allowed all handling & displayed affection by nudging his head against counselors hands.

Reaction to Assessor: Donut lowers his head behind his litter box upon approach. He lifts his eyes up slightly to look at the assessor and blinks when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Donut remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Donut was hesitant of touch, but lowers his head and blinks when pet. He warms up after a while and leans slightly on the assessor’s hand and starts to knead, but continues to lay low and may still be shy. As per previous owner, Donut is relaxed, affectionate, and plays gently around children. Around other cats, he is respectful and also plays gently with them. He is described as playful, friendly and quiet with a medium activity level. Behavior Determination: Experience Donut tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
