DODGER – A1044094
7-23-2015 Manhattan Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
***SAFE 07/21/15*** FOUR PERFECTLY HEALTHY 10 WEEK OLD KITTENS FOUND IN A BASEMENT OF A BUILDING WILL DIE BECAUSE OF THEIR FEAR!! WAFER, JAMMIE, DODGER AND LINZER are siblings found by a building superintendent in his building. He was feeding them for awhile but said he has too many pets and brought them to the ACC instead, most likely thinking they would find a home. WRONG! These 4 babies are scared and afraid in the shelter environment and all of them got an EXPNOCHILD rating. The did allow some petting and handling but they will need someone to love them and show them that they can trust people again after the trauma of being in the ACC. The ACC would like to label these kittens feral and just kill them off. But we know better – they only need a safe secure environment and an experienced foster to help them learn that not all humans are going to abandon them. PLEASE GIVE THESE FOUR KITTENS A CHANCE FOR A HAPPY ENDING TO THEIR STORY. FOSTER OR ADOPT – CONTACT A RESCUE NOW TO SAVE THEM!!

07/15/15 14:08 Linzer A1044095,Wafer A1044091,Jammie A1044094, and Dodger A1044092 were living in finders basement. The finder is a superintendent of an apartment building and has been feeding them for a couple of weeks. Behavior during intake Linzer, Jammie, Dodger, and Wafer were hissing, spitting, swatting and retreated to the back of the kennel. we covered them with blankets to get them out of the carrier. We were unable to scan or collar. We were able to photograph them inside of the kennel and I was able to pet Jammie. When approached, they would try to climb in the kennel and were trying to hide behind eachother.

07/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Dodger looks tense in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Dodger remains crouched down on her cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Dodger accepts the stroke, but stiffens up in place and flinches on the touch. Placement determination: Experience / no child Dodger tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
