11/03/15 12:22 Diamond is a 9 year old black and white female spayed domestic shorthair cat who is being surrendered because the owner no longer wants to care for her. Diamond has been in the family for 8 years. Diamond lived with 3 adults and no other animals. Diamond is an indoor cat who has not been exposed to dogs. Diamond has been exposed to small children and is reported to be tolerant. When visitors come to the home she may greet them but may also go to her own place. Diamond uses a closed litter box with clumping litter. The family says she is mostly independent but allows petting. Diamond will struggle for a bath but is tolerant of a nail trim. Diamond prefers not to be brushed but doesnt mind being picked up. She is easily placed in a carrier and does not mind care rides. Diamond does not have toys but likes to play with string objects in the home such as tassles on curtains and likes to sit near a window. Diamond had a scratching post made of rough rope which she used. She may scratch wooden doors. When the family is home she likes to go to her own space. When home alone she is well behaved but may explore in the home. The family reports if there is food on the counter she will approach to eat it. Diamond likes dry food. Upon intake Diamond was shy for introduction and left the carrier slowly. Diamond was still for handling and counselor was able to scan for microchip (positive) collar and photograph. Diamond allowed petting and was re-assured by this. Diamond returned to the carrier on her own.

Diamond was bought into the care center due to her previous owner no longer wanting to keep her. Diamond lived with three adults and no other animals. Diamond is an indoor cat who has not been exposed to dogs. Diamond has been exposed to small children and is reported to be tolerant. When visitors come to the home she may greet them but may also go to her own place. Diamond uses a closed litter box with clumping litter. The family says she is mostly independent but allows petting. Reaction to assessor: Diamond does not come to front but looks at you calm and relaxed When spoken quietly: Diamond does not come to front but looks at you calm and relaxed Reaction to door cage opening: Diamond remains soft and relaxed as she comes to the front of the cage Reaction to touch: Diamond allows petting and attention Try picking cat up: Diamond is tolerant of this type of handling. Behavior Determination: Beginner At the time of the assessment Diamond was displaying behavior, did not come to the front of the kennel but interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Diamond is displaying behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
