Medical Summary Negative MC Intact male BARH Mild staining to teeth Negative fleas/earmites (activyl) Owners stated that the cat was drooling, odorous, and frothing from the mouth. They noted the beginning of circulation loss to the tongue. Piece of floss or other string wrapped around central portion of exposed tongue. Tissue distally is nectrotic and without feeling, but base of tongue is mobile. Floss is too embedded to remove without sedation. Did not see “tail” of floss down back of throat. Good body condition, still eating despite injury. Held off deworming. NOSF NPO’d cat in preparation for surgical amputation tomorrow. In medical. Given baytril 2.27% @ 5mg/kg (0.8ml) and buprenorphine (0.35 ml for weight) and set up for further treatment per oncall 0915. Injectables to avoid touching mouth.
