CYGNUS – A1055732
Safe 11-11-2015 Manhattan Rescue: The Animal Haven Please honor your pledges: www.theanimalhaven.com
***SAFE 11/11/15 *** CYGNUS IS PLEADING WITH YOU TO SAVE HIM! DECLAWED 5 YEAR OLD!!! SWEET AND GENTLE NEEDS YOU TONIGHT! Sweet CYGNUS was found as a ‘stray’ in the Bronx. He’s Declawed and it’s very odd that this gentle and neutered guy was found outside at all. But found outside in the Bronx indeed he was and whether he was left behind after a move or simply lost is a good guess but no one has been looking for him…and tonight if no one does he will lose his life tomorrow. CYGNUS is a really nice cat who happens to have a little hair loss that might indicate ringworm or flea allergies even…but it’s so slight and could well be from being outside. It’s been addressed and this boy caught the shelter cold and is being treated for it….but ACC won’t bother to do much more and is planning on ending his life tomorrow…unless you step up and say ‘yes, I will help!’ Will you be the hero that looks at that pleading face and says ‘I will save you-don’t you worry?’ Please save this sweet guy!

10/23/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/23/15 12:22 Cygnus A1055732 is a young brown tabby & white DSH feline who was found near the finder’s residence. They are unable to keep Cygnus due to having multiple pets and not being able to take on another animal. They stated Cygnus was well behaved in the home and got along well with the two resident cats and 2 pitbulls. Cygnus allowed the finder to bathe her/him. He/she ate wet & dry Friskies cat food, used a litter box & slept on the sofa. During intake Cygnus was vocal and seemed to be nervous/fearful. She/he allowed minimal handling. Cygnus allowed to be scanned (-) & collared. He/she appears to be more comfortable in the kennel & for that reason his/her picture was taken in the kennel.
11/01/2015 WEB MEMO
A staff member writes, “Oh Cygnus, you are truly as bright as the stars you are named after. For those of you (like me!) who had to look up what this unique name means, Cygnus is a constellation in the Milky Way that means “Swan” in Latin. Cygnus is one of the brightest stars in the night sky and can be seen most prominently in summer and autumn. Our Cygnus here is a special guy whose light has been dimmed since he was dropped off here. His photos don’t do him justice and you have to see him in person to appreiate the unique swirl patterns on his tabby body and the splash of white on his face. He likes to be scratched and patted all over his body but with all the smells and sounds of the shetler, he’s nervous and overwhelmed. WIth a little time and TLC (and a few treats), Cygnus’ true personality will shine through, and he will be your very best friend.”
10/25/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – BEGINNER
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cygnus was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The finder found him near their home and states that he behaved well when brought inside. He allowed the finder to bathe him and he got along with the finder’s two resident cats and pit bulls. He was nervous upon intake, but allowed all handling during his initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Cygnus was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cygnus rolls over and chirps. He comes to the front and solicits attention. Reaction to cage door opening: Cygnus remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Cygnus leans on the assessor’s hand, begins to purr, and head-butts lightly. Reaction to being picked up: Cygnus remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Beginner Cygnus interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.
