BEHAVIOR:
The former owner states that around strangers Curtis is shy and need time to get to know the person. Also, describes Curtis as friendly and playful cat with a medium activity level.
Reaction to assessor: Curtis looks tense in his cage when approached by the assessor.
Reaction to door opening: Curtis remains sitting upright on his cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open.
Reaction to touch: Curtis accepts the stroke, slowly head-butts the assessor’s hand, but remains cautious with his surroundings with eyes wandering.
Placement determination: Experience
Curtis tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter.
We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
PROFILE:
Basic information:
Curtis is a 10 yr. old neutered declawed male domestic short hair mix. The owner surrendered Curtis because he is moving. Curtis is allergic to grain food and the owner took two months ago for a check up.
Socialization:
The owner states that around strangers Curtis is shy and need time to get to know the person. Curtis has never been around children. Curtis has never been around dogs or other cats so the owner has no idea how Curtis would react around them. Curtis has never bitten or scratched anyone.
Behavior:
Curtis has never been bathed, had his nails trimmed (Declawed on the front paws). He loves having his coat brushed, he is okay with being picked up but struggles when being placed in a cat carrier.
For a new family to know:
The owner describes Curtis as friendly and playful cat with a medium activity level. Curtis has play balls and rubber mice cat toys; he lives mostly indoors and sleeps anywhere in the house that he wants. In the home Curtis will follow the owner around and prefers to stay in same room as the owner. Curtis eats fancy feast brand wet cat food and is feed three times a day. He is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Curtis has never been given a scratching post so the owner does not know if he will use it or not.
Behavior during intake:
During intake Oliver was tense with stiff body, he allowed us to scan (-) but would not allow us to put on collar, he photographed in the cat kennel.
