Safe 11-28-2015 Manhattan Rescue: Magnificat Cat Rescue Please honor your pledges: http://magnificatrescue.org/
***SAFE 11/28/15*** COCOA, along with litter mates,STEVIE and LOCKNESS (both not listed tonight), were surrendered after their owners of almost two years were evicted. One would suppose they didn’t know that the cats SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH them! Now 3 lives at stake,COCOA’S life tonight may be cut short by noon tomorrow if no FOSTER or ADOPTER is FOUND! Understandably, this 1 year and 5 month old is fearful in the shelter. Pulled away from her litter mates, COCOA now sits alone in a tiny cage…waiting to die! She’s RESCUE ONLY due to her fearfulness so please, contact a NEW HOPE RESCUE and offer to take this sweet girl in. She’s already lost her little cat family, don’t let her lose her life as well!

Cocoa was described as friendly by her owners stating she would love to solicit attention by rubbing her body against them with heavy purring. She lived with 3 teen’s ages 12, 13 and 16 and showed affection to all of them equally. Reaction to assessor: Cocoa looks tense in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Cocoa remains crouched position at the back of the cage, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Cocoa hisses at first, then slowly began to accept the stroke on the head, but along the body she stiffens in place and swats with claws out at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH ONLY Cocoa is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
