She has spent the last month living with another cat and is respectful of the other cat and does not play with the other cat. She has not been socialized with a dog. Chloe has been kept indoors and has a low activity level. The owner describes the cat as shy, fearful, aloof, quiet, and independent. 08/15/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Chloe came to us as an owner surrender on 8/12/15. It was reported by the owner that Chloe has not been around children, so her behaviors around them are unknown. Chloe’s previous owner reports that she was eliminating (urinating and/or defecating) outside the litterbox, but we are unaware of what, if any, modification steps were taken to try and address this behavior. Please note as well that Chloe’s previous living situation may have contributed to the behavior seen. We cannot be sure whether this behavior will continue in a different home environment, but we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment. We also recommend that Chloe be provided with numerous litterboxes throughout the house as she adjusts to her new living space. The extra boxes can be removed as she learns the space and successfully defecates in her main litterbox. Due to the all known behavior information the behavior department believes that Chloe would do best in an experienced home with no children. Reaction to assessor: attempts to hide upon your approach (3) When spoken to quietly: continues to hide (3) Reaction to cage door opening: remains motionless or does not respond (2) Reaction to touch: initially moves away and continues to hide from you – immobile when you touch him/her (3) Reaction to being picked up: Not tolerant of this type of handling
