*** SAFE 05/07/15 *** CHEETOS WAS A ‘GIFT’, WAS BROUGHT IN BY THE POLICE FOR SCRATCHING HIS OWNER….NOW IS SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR A SCRATCH! Some people really should not. have. a. cat. CHEETOS is a handsome fella, and was so sweet during his assessment. He’s afraid of children, and one has to wonder why. Was he mistreated? Some cats-most cats-will sometimes scratch when they are overstimulated by too much petting or petting in the wrong spot. CHEETOS isn’t neutered and hormones can sometimes trigger nervous behavior-but really-calling the police to have poor CHEETOS hauled away like a criminal? That isn’t far. CHEETOS has now broken with the shelter cold and so the ACC has deemed it ok to kill him tomorrow at noon, and this cat who is confused and frightened will end his life on a cold metal table being killed. Don’t let that happen-don’t let CHEETOS be killed because someone was too ignorant to understand cat behavior…they didn’t even bother to get him neutered. Help CHEETOS tonight! He’s so handsome, a real lover and frightened at the shelter. SAVE this boy tonight-he needs you!

04/20/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
04/20/15 13:13 BASIC INFO: Cheetos was brought in by NYPD, who were called by his Owner to remove him from the home, due to Cheetos scratching the Owner on 4/19/15. Counselor was able to call and speak with the Owner to get a detailed profile for Cheetos. He allowed the Counselor to scan for a microchip, pet him and place a collar on him. He also transfered from the cat carrier to his cage with no problem. Cheetos is approximately 3 years old, and he is a male domestic shorthair cat. He was surrenderd due to him scratching the Owner. He was obtained by the Owner as a gift from a friend. The one thing the Owner liked the most about Cheetos is that he was cuddly. SOCIAL LIFE & PERSONALITY: Cheetos lived with a couple of 2 adults. He is fearful of children and stays away from them. He is house trained and would use an open air litter box with clumping litter (no brand given) because they would switch to other cat litter. He is mostly an indoor cat and he is very active, running around, and playing. He is playful, friendly, affectionate and in the mornings very talkative. BEHAVIOR ISSUES: Cheetos does claw at furniture even though he had a tubular scratching post. He did scratch the Owner, but has never bitten a human being. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Cheetos prefers clumping litter. He uses an uncovered litter box. Cheetos loves to play with a mouse toy and laser pointer. He does scratch on furniture. When at home it tends to follow the Owner around the home. He does play somewhat rough, and eats both wet and dry food, Friskies brand. Cheetos sleeps on a carpet in the bedroom.

04/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Cheetos looks neutral in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Cheetos remains sitting upright by the front, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Cheetos allows the stroke, stands with tail up, but becomes distracted with sudden noise coming from the opposite side of the entrance door. He then focuses on that direction and began to low growl. Placement determination: Experience Cheetos tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
