CERA – A1042358

***GONE 07/15/15***PURRFECT PAIR OF HOUSEMATES WHO LOST HOME DUE TO DEATH OF OWNER NEED RESCUE ANGEL! Cats enter the ACC system for any of a hundred reasons, but one of the saddest reasons is because their former owner has died. That is so different from most other intake scenarios, because these cats have been loved right up to the owner’s passing. Their owners probably thought someone in the family would continue to love their precious pet, but that is unfortunately not always the case. Ducky and Cera are two of these cats who have been betrayed on so many levels. They have been betrayed by all who knew and loved the former owner, but who did nothing to stop these precious pets’ entry into the ACC system. Despite being grief stricken, these precious angels still had good behavior evals—tolerant of petting and handling—Ducky being a little more outgoing of the two. Poor Cera, only 1 (still practically a kitten herself) just lost all of her kittens (two were stillborn and the other two died shortly after birth at the ACC). Haven’t these little lost souls lost enough? All they have left are their precious lives. . Cats like these are killed every day here, and each death IS a betrayal. Please don’t let it end like this. Save these gems tonight. You can reserve them online or contact a NH rescue for help with transportation (if you live within a few hours of NYC). Are you ready to be THE SOMEBODY in “somebody do something?” If so, make the call for Ducky and Cera NOW!!!

07/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Cera was calm and relaxed upon approach. When softly spoken to, she blinks and turns her head away. Reaction to cage door opening: Cera becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Cera attempts to avoid touch by moving away, but allows petting on her head and back. She remains stiff, starts to grumble, and her ears bend flat against her head. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Cera tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
