CARTER – A1046087
8-17-2015 Brooklyn
** GONE 08/17/15** CARTER is an EXPERIENCE-rated charmer who was brought into the ACC after someone abandoned him. Looking into those soulful, soft eyes, it is hard to imagine anyone walking away from him with the intent to walk away forever; this is clearly a cat who has trusted people until now, and who wants to trust again. The ACC has responded to this by warehousing him in a tiny metal cube and maintaining a dirty enough facility that he caught the shelter cold in short order. Their response, predictably enough, is that they plan to kill CARTER tomorrow, unless someone saves his life by foster/adopting tonight!

08/03/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Carter was calm and relaxed upon approach. He focuses on an unknown object in the room when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Carter remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Carter allows touch, but backs away at times during the interaction. He seems to appreciate touch, but seems focused on something in the room that the assessor does not see. After a while, he broke his focus and leans on the assessor’s hand. Reaction to being picked up: Carter becomes tense and struggles out of the assessor’s arms. Behavior Determination: Experience Carter tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
