***GONE 06/03/15*** “PURRING, CALM, QUIET” TUXIE KITTEN IS PERFECTLY HEALTHY, BUT WILL DIE BECAUSE SHE’S SCARED – PLEASE GRANT CARLITA A DEATH ROW PARDON!!! Pretty tuxie kitten CARLITA, just 13 months old, was dumped into the kill-happy ACC as a supposed “STRAY”, yet this “VERY QUIET AND CALM” girl had NO fleas or ear mites! In fact, Carlita PURRED until they put a topical flea preventative on her, then the poor kitten HISSED in fear. Now her fear has taken over, so the ACC PUNISHED her with New Hope Only and fast-tracked this adorable kitten to the noon kill list for tomorrow, despite the fact that Carlita is PERFECTLY HEALTHY! Please don’t let them silence her purrs forever! Start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt sweet but scared tuxie kitten CARLITA from the approved New Hope Only rescue groups! If you can’t save CARLITA yourself, please SHARE her sad story and PLEDGE for her rescue!

06/01/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Carlita was hiding behind her litter box upon approach. When softly spoken to, she looks up at the assessor and meows softly at first, but then starts to hiss and low growl. Reaction to cage door opening: Carlita remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Carlita jumps up and does not allow touch; she swats at the assessor’s hand without nails and continues to hiss and growl. Her ears bend sideways and she starts to lip lick. Note: Carlita was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was quiet and calm upon intake and displayed no signs of aggression. However she went from purring during her initial medical exam, and then became tense and started to hiss. Behavior Determination: NH ONLY Carlita is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
